Little Artists: An Eric Carle–Inspired Collage Adventure

Does your little one love to draw, paint, cut, glue and make things?

Over three fun and creative mornings at Maxima Hive Jr., children will step into the colorful world of Eric Carle and discover how an artist can turn simple pieces of painted paper into something magical.

This isn't just a craft project. It's a chance for young children to experiment, get messy, make choices, and discover that they can create art in their own way.

What will we do?

Across the three sessions, children will:

•  Explore Eric Carle's colorful collage style and learn a little about the artist behind the beloved books.
•  Create their own colorful, textured papers using paint and other materials.
•  Experiment with cutting, layering, shapes and patterns.
•  Sketch and develop their own illustration inspired by the playful world of Eric Carle.
•  Put everything together to create a finished collage they can proudly take home.

Each day builds on the one before it, so by the end of the three mornings, your child will have created their own unique piece of artwork from start to finish.

A special experience with a local artist

The workshop is led by Aviv Hirsch, a lifelong Arlington resident, artist, and experienced children's educator who has developed and taught art programs for museums.

Aviv knows how to make art accessible and exciting for young children, while giving them plenty of room to explore their own ideas.

No previous art experience is needed. Just bring your child's imagination, comfortable art-friendly clothes, and a water bottle.

Instead of another morning in front of a screen, give your little artist three mornings to paint, experiment, create and discover what they can make with their own two hands.

Space is limited so that each child gets plenty of attention and hands-on time.

To provide the best experience while keeping our programs sustainable, most classes require a minimum number of participants. Maxima Hive reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a class if the minimum enrollment is not met.

If We Cancel a Class

If Maxima Hive cancels a class, registered participants may choose one of the following:

• A full refund of the original method of payment.
• Store credit for the full registration amount, which may be used toward any purchase at Maxima Gift Center, Maxima Book Center, or any future Maxima Hive class or event.

We encourage participants to choose store credit whenever possible, as credit card processing fees are incurred when payments are processed and again when refunds are issued. Selecting store credit helps us reduce these costs and continue offering quality community programming.

Participant Cancellations

If you cancel your registration before the class or event, an 8% cancellation/restocking fee will be deducted from your refund. This fee helps offset the non-refundable credit card processing and administrative costs associated with your registration.

Instead of a refund, you may choose to receive 100% of your registration fee as store credit, with no cancellation fee deducted. Store credit may be used toward merchandise at Maxima Gift Center or Maxima Book Center, or toward any future Maxima Hive class or event.

Class Rescheduling

If a class is rescheduled, your registration will automatically be transferred to the new date. If you are unable to attend the new date, you may choose either a full refund or store credit.
